Introducing AIGA DC’s Newest Board Members

Based on an extraordinarily strong pool of nominations, the 2024-2025 AIGA DC Nominating Committee selected these appointees to fill open seats on the Board of Directors for a two-year term through June 15, 2026.

So now, we are excited to introduce our newest AIGA DC Board members:

Bryana Ellis

Bryana Ellis

Bryana Ellis is a design specialist with a flair for innovation in user experience, human-centered design, and mass communications. She’s all about creating inclusive programs that empower underrepresented communities and build spaces for self-expression and collaboration, especially at the crossroads of design, beauty, and tech. Based in the DC metro area, Bryana loves exploring holistic wellness, finding new ways to make art, and crafting herbal remedies in her free time.

Jasmine Henderson

Jasmine Henderson is a multidisciplinary designer from Houston, Texas, with a BFA in Graphic Design from Texas Tech University. Currently based in Washington, D.C., Jasmine is a graphic designer for George Washington University, specializing in branding, digital, and print design. She is actively involved in volunteering and contracting with nonprofits across the DMV area to provide impactful branding solutions. Jasmine’s deep southern roots, Black Texas heritage, and love for print textures, typography, and history inspire her work. Her passion lies in exploring diverse design mediums and integrating them with Black culture to create meaningful and culturally resonant work.

Kara Mask, a Creative Vice President, has built and led global design teams in DC, London, and Singapore. She designs and directs for challenges like nation branding, criminal justice reform, cultural perception, and small business empowerment. Her clients include the NFL, NYU, Intuit, World Wildlife Fund, the Home Depot, and Meta. A Texas native and MICA alumna, she embraces creativity with both unbridled passion and practical sensibility.

Sarah Cleary is a digital communications leader at an advocacy organization in the health care policy industry. She has more than five years of experience creating innovative digital content, improving workflows, and managing digital communications projects for member associations and federal agencies. A movie buff and a sneaker fanatic, Sarah enjoys spending her free time watching the latest releases at the cinema or following sneaker culture and fashion creators.

Stephanie Hess

Mentorship Chair

Stephanie Hess is an associate art director working on science fiction and fantasy books. She holds an MA in Book Arts from the Corcoran College of Art + Design, and previously ran a letterpress studio in Washington D.C. She loves working with up and coming designers and illustrators in the publishing field, and is excited to extend that to the AIGA community in the District. In her free time, she sews her own clothes, takes art classes, and hangs out with her dog and her husband.

Zhang Long is a product experience designer bridging digital innovation with traditional business. After graduating from the Corcoran School of Design, he worked in crypto product design, helping secure investment for the startup he worked with. Zhang now leads the U.S. market entry for his family’s established spicy sauce brand. He applies his design expertise to revitalize retail products, bringing a fresh perspective to both tech-driven solutions and heritage businesses. Zhang is passionate about empowering new designers to go beyond their limits and fostering cross-cultural connections through his work.
