FAQS

Isn’t AIGA a dues-based organization?

Yes, AIGA National collects membership dues.

As of September 2023, AIGA’s DC chapter no longer receives a portion of dues — we now fully rely on sponsorships with organizations, donations from individuals and businesses, event ticket sales, and other sources of fundraising to cover our operational costs. The membership dues AIGA national collects provide access to national initiatives and benefits alongside local chapter access to select and discounted events.

At this time, we have opted not to add additional fees at the local level during first time registration and renewal so as not to burden members.

I’m not a member, can I give?

Absolutely! Every contribution is valued. Whether it’s a one-time donation or a recurring gift of any amount, your support aids in sustaining our local creative community programming and initiatives.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

As a 501(c)(3) organization, your contribution should indeed be tax-deductible. It’s advisable to consult with a tax expert to determine the extent of deductibility and whether any specific documentation is required. For an additional receipt containing our EIN and 501(c)(3) status, please reach out to us at talktous@dc.aiga.org.

What will you do with the money?

All gifts are considered unrestricted and will be used for our general operations as needed. If you would like to give selectively, you can select specific programs and initiates on our donation page. We also have a scholarship fund. Rest assured, we have robust checks and balances in place to ensure that all funds are utilized in alignment with the organization’s mission.
