Salon: Legal Issues for Designers

Art law covers a wide range of disciplines: copyright, licensing, contracts, and trademark registration and research. Make sure your brand and creative work are protected, and that you are paid what you are worth.

For this salon, we'll meet with John D. Mason of Copyright Counselors, LLC, a boutique art and entertainment law firm offering artists, writers and creative professionals reliable legal backing for their needs.

Mason will talk about his role as an intellectual property attorney, and how he works with creative industries and individuals on copyright registration/infringement claims, trademark registration/infringement claims, art licensing, publishing agreements, and other intellectual property matters. He will share some useful tips on entity formation, business issues and contracts for entrepreneurs, designers and illustrators.

Please plan to arrive at Teaism around 7:30 a.m. to allow time to purchase breakfast refreshments and network with other members. The salon begins promptly at 8:00 a.m.

AIGA DC salons are free, intimate roundtable discussions open to AIGA members only. Want to enjoy this member benefit? Check out AIGA’s new membership structure and join today.
