Ethically Navigating the Realities of Accessibility vs. Compliance

We want to be advocates in our work for making them accessible to everyone. But in accessibility there are a lot of grey areas, and give and take when trying to make something that is compliant, accessible, and usable. Scott Spector, Manager of Quality, Accessibility, and Privacy at Taoti Creative, will guide us through the kinds of choices you may have to make as you try to make work that works for all.

We’ll walk through a handful of the most common design hurdles for accessible and compliant design, as well as some strategy for selling your design team on accessible design without breaking the bank or their beautiful hard work.

As Manager of Accessibility, my role requires a relentless focus on creating an accessible digital presence for our clients, baking all aspects of accessibility into the process of building engaging digital experiences. Although the majority of my time is spent managing and architecting accessible web, mobile application, and other digital projects for our clients, my passion and focus remain centered on empathy - not just building for the sake of compliance, but working with our Creative Services and Development teams towards an experience equally as enjoyable for those with disabilities as those that browse the web via conventional means.
