Design for Good: Immigrant Portfolio Review

This event is at capacity. Thank you all who volunteered!

Are you interested in using your design eye to act as a volunteer portfolio reviewer for immigrant job seekers? AIGA DC is collaborating with Upwardly Global* to host a virtual portfolio review.

AIGA members will have the opportunity to review immigrant and refugee portfolios, as they prepare for design jobs. Many of the refugees attending are new to the U.S. job market and will benefit from guidance regarding how to prepare and present their portfolios and resumes for an American job market.

In addition, Hayelin Choi will kick off the event by speaking about her experience navigating the design world as an immigrant to the U.S. Some of her clients include Amnesty International, Pentagram, The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and The Johns Hopkins University. Hayelin is also a published children’s book author and illustrator.

*Upwardly Global helps immigrants and refugees who aim to contribute their vital skills to the professional U.S. workforce.
