Civic Design’s Current Crisis: Salon w/ Ashleigh Axios and Aruna Mall

In just a few short months, the landscape of civic design in the U.S. has undergone immense upheaval – with lots of those shifts being painfully apparent right here in the District. The new administration has both radically reduced civic infrastructure and sent dedicated public servants home, while pouring unprecedented energy into infusing the government with technology (namely artificial intelligence).

What does this reduction in the public service workforce mean for civic designers? What are the dangers of a government service without thoughtful civic design(ers and changemakers)?

Join Ashleigh Axios, former White House Creative Director and former AIGA National President and Chair of the Board of Directors, as well as Aruna Mall, Chief Creative Officer for Teal Media, for an intimate salon about civic design’s current crisis and what it means now, and in the future.
