AI in Design Workshop

2023 ushered in the era of mainstream AI. Large language age models like ChatGPT make it easier than ever to get questions answered, while invisible algorithms decide who gets mortgages, boards an airplane, gets arrested, and more.

Questions abound regarding ethical AI, especially in the design field. With copyright lawsuits moving through courts, and "art AI" becoming a fad, designers wonder how it will affect their work.

In this workshop, Dr. Kevin Patton -- Professor and Director of Interaction Design Studies at The George Washington University -- will share how AI techniques like machine learning already impact modern design techniques. He will discuss topics like using ChatGTP for design tasks, avoiding copyright concerns with AI, and how to use highly automated design tools for good. A networking reception will follow this workshop.
