What goes into building a presidential campaign brand under pressure? In this candid case study, hear directly from the creative minds behind the Harris for President campaign—including the team at Wide Eye, who created the brand, and Kate Conway, the campaign’s in-house Creative Director. The conversation will unpack the design strategy, the same-day turnaround of a new identity, and the tension between high-profile political branding and low-fi internet culture. Together, we’ll explore what it takes to move fast, stay grounded, and shape democracy through design—from inside the campaign. This event builds on the energy of AIGA DC’s DotGov initiative, celebrating design’s role in civic impact.

Kate Conway | Creative Director, Harris for President (She/her)
Kate Conway is a creative director and digital strategy leader with extensive experience in brand-building, audience engagement, and digital campaigns for politics, advocacy, and public affairs. She currently consults with companies, campaigns, and organizations on advertising, content strategy, branding, print and digital design, and building creative teams.
In 2024, Kate was the Creative Director for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, leading the in-house creative team. She oversaw brand, event design, social media creative, and advertising creative for over $350 million in media spend.
Before that, she held roles across the progressive space, including Assemble the Agency, the DCCC, American Bridge, and Media Matters.
Outside of work, Kate enjoys hiking, reading, and photography.
Ben Ostrower | Founder & Creative Director, Wide Eye (He/him)
Ben Ostrower is a business owner, creative strategist, and designer with over 25 years of experience in digital media. As Wide Eye’s CEO and Executive Creative Director, Ben works with purpose-driven clients to help them tell their stories visually, and to navigate digital transformation and organizational change. Ben has built a roster of hundreds of clients around the U.S. and abroad, including The White House, Harvard University, ACLU, The Carter Center, March for Our Lives, and dozens of high-profile political figures including Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Stacey Abrams, Bernie Sanders, and Cory Booker. Ben has been interviewed as a brand expert by the Washington Post, CNN, Fast Company, and the BBC. Prior to founding Wide Eye in 2009, Ben was a producer of award-winning PBS documentaries and was a professional photographer.
Grace Abe | Design Director, Wide Eye (She/her)
Grace is a designer, art director, and illustrator with a knack for building clear brands that help causes shine. She pulls from her experience across a variety of spaces—local and national politics, advertising, retail, health, and climate justice—to collaboratively uncover solutions and bring meaningful stories to life. As Design Director at Wide Eye, Grace has worked with March for Our Lives, Accountable.us, Everytown for Gun Safety, the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence, the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD), the Tegan & Sara Foundation, and more.
Sebastian Arredondo | Senior Designer, Wide Eye (He/him)
Sebastian is a designer and creative leader grounded in audience empathy and strategic thinking. With over 5 years of experience in various industries, he’s collaborated with teams at Spotify, Billy Reid, and Live Nation. During his time at Wide Eye, he’s worked with impact-focused organizations like Merit America, the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Directory, and Health Resources in Action. Most recently, he's worked with MoveOn and Snap to elevate their brand and digital presence. He aims to ideate with purpose, create beautiful moments, and connect with audiences while in pursuit of a better world.
