Steinweiss Collection Celebration and Show

At this event, AIGA DC is showcasing a sizable collection of rare mid-century album covers that range from jazz and big band, to classical and popular music...

Before designer-illustrator Alex Steinweiss invented the album cover in 1938, all albums came in plain brown wrappers. Steinweiss’ idea caught on overnight and revolutionized the music business—and spawned the field of album cover art. At this event, AIGA DC is showcasing 100+ rare mid-century album covers designed by Steinweiss, ranging from jazz and big band, to classical and popular music. In the heart of DC's jazziest neighborhood, VeraCruz Gallery will be hosting this event as part of their grand reopening, complete with signature cocktails (we recommend the "Weiss Guy"). Join us as we get inspired by the artwork, moved by the music, and energized by the crowd at this must-see event!

This is a free event, but please register so we can gauge attendance. Cash bar.
